Aaron Jones Stifled By Coaching Staff Again In Week 5
6 years agoGreen Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones is averaging close to six yards a carry over his career, but he was only given a handful of touches against one of the worst run defenses in the NFL in Detroit in Week 5. Jones ran the ball seven times for 40 yards and added two catches for 19 yards in a losing effort. Jones is an electric talent, but Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy has consistently favored running back Jamaal Williams, an ineffective runner but great pass blocker. This choice has befuddled many analysts as well as starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Green Bay fell behind early, which did cause Green Bay to move away from the run. Additionally, Jones is seeing his role on the offense grow. So there is hope that Jones could start to see a large enough volume to make him a good fantasy contributor. Still, the situation is frustrating. As much potential as Jones has, it is hard to even start him as a flex until there is some commitment demonstrated by Green Bay to feature him in their offense.
