Aaron Hicks Signs Extension With Yankees
6 years agoThe New York Yankees quietly locked up their starting center fielder on Monday, agreeing to a seven-year, $70 million contract extension with Aaron Hicks. The contract includes a club option for the 2026 season, replacing his current one-year deal. Hicks, 29, was acquired from the Minnesota Twins prior to the 2016 season and has been more than solid. In 2018, he set career highs with 27 home runs and 79 RBI, also playing in a career-high 137 games. This contract extension appears to end any debate over who the starting center fielder will be for the Yankees for the foreseeable future. Hicks should continue to post solid numbers as he hits in a powerful lineup while playing in an offense-friendly home stadium.
