Aaron Hicks' Opening Day Status Uncertain
6 years agoConflicting reports are arising out of the New York Yankees spring training camp on Friday regarding the club's starting center fielder, Aaron Hicks. Newly signed to a contract extension, Hicks has missed the past two weeks with lower back stiffness and soreness. While the 29-year-old stated he felt confident he'd be ready for Opening Day, Yankees GM Brian Cashman admitted time was running out to get him in playing shape, as the season gets underway in less than two weeks. The club is already dealing with a pair of injuries to the starting rotation, as Luis Severino will be out at least until May, while CC Sabathia could also begin the season on the injured list.
