Aaron Bummer Throws First Bullpen Thursday
2 years agoChicago White Sox relief pitcher Aaron Bummer (lat) threw his first bullpen session on Thursday at normal effort. Bummer said he'll have to see how he recovers on Friday, but the session went off as planned and he's feeling good. The 29-year-old left-hander entered spring training with some soreness in his left lat, so the White Sox took it easy with him. There remains a chance that Bummer could be ready for Opening Day, where he'd be in the saves picture in a committee approach with Liam Hendriks dealing with cancer. Bummer tossed only 26 2/3 innings for the Pale Hose in 2022 because of injuries, but he had a 2.36 ERA and two saves when he was healthy. He's only worth a flier for those speculating on saves in deeper leagues because of his extensive injury history.
