Aaron Ashby Called Up And Starting On Wednesday
6 months agoThe Milwaukee Brewers called up left-hander Aaron Ashby from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday to make the start on the road against the Phillies in Philadelphia. We aren't recommending Ashby as a fantasy streamer on the road against one of the best offenses in baseball, but the 26-year-old southpaw is worth considering as a waiver-wire pickup in deeper leagues because of his strikeout upside and the fact that he could get some run in Milwaukee's rotation with rookie left-hander Robert Gasser (elbow) on the 15-day injured list. The numbers don't look good for Ashby on the surface, as he allowed eight runs (four earned) on six hits in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Reds in his only spot start on April 8. Ashby also went 1-3 with a 6.80 ERA, 1.97 WHIP, 38 walks and 43 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings at Nashville. He's going to need to throw strikes in the big leagues.
