A.J. Puk Playing Catch Friday
4 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher A.J. Puk (shoulder) is playing catch today before the team's Opening Day game against the Angels. He will report to the team's alternate training site in San Jose next week to attempt to come back from a shoulder injury he re-aggravated earlier in the week. Puk is one of the top prospects in the A's system so they will likely be careful with the lefty as he has dealt with a myriad of arm injuries including Tommy John surgery in 2018. He was an elite strikeout pitcher at every stop in the minors so he has fantasy appeal if he can get on the field, but there is currently no timetable for his return. Owners that drafted the rookie should keep him in an IL spot for now but he's not must-own in standard-size fantasy leagues.
