A.J. Minter Records First Save On Tuesday
2 years agoAtlanta Braves pitcher A.J. Minter struck out one in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. He entered Tuesday's game in the ninth inning to protect a two-run lead. The 28-year-old needed 16 pitches to retire the Phillies to earn his first save of the year. Minter received the first save chance after primary closer Kenley Jansen landed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to an irregular heartbeat. Will Smith and Minter will continue to handle closing duties while Jansen is sidelined. Minter owns a 1.64 ERA, 0.79 WHIP, and 44:5 K: BB through 33 innings in 2022. Fantasy managers should add both Minter and Smith in all league formats as both should see save chances for the foreseeable future.
