A.J. Cole Earns Win In Relief
6 years agoComing off a heartbreaking, extra-inning loss to the Atlanta Braves, the New York Yankees looked to even things up on Tuesday night but were in trouble when A.J. Cole was summoned. The 26-year-old, who was activated from the DL after Jonathan Loaisiga was demoted on Monday, entered the game in the fifth inning after a six-run lead was sliced in half. Cole entered with the tying run at the plate and just one out, but managed to escape the jam, later tossing another inning en route to his second win with the Yankees. While he currently doesn’t have late-game situation opportunities, his superb pitching and 0.61 ERA could catapult him into a more important role in the stacked Yankees bullpen.
