A.J. Allmendinger’s Playoff Dreams End Late At Daytona
1 year agoA.J. Allmendinger's postseason dreams were crushed when a major wreck occurred the last lap of Stage Two at the Coke Zero Sugar 400. Allmendinger was in 11th place when Christopher Bell made contact with Ty Gibbs, causing a chain reaction that took out several cars, including the No.16. Although the accident did not force the Kaulig Racing Chevy Camaro to the garage, it did cause significant damage to the right front fender, making it nearly impossible to regain the speed required to compete for a win. With the playoffs starting next week, the 41-year-old will attempt to use the next ten races as a foundation for the 2024 season.
