1 year agoOn Saturday afternoon, A.J. Allmendinger qualified 16th for Sunday's Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. As one of the drivers that is already building for 2024, there is little reason to be excited about The Dinger heading into this weekend. Furthermore, while the 41-year-old Kaulig Racing star has 12 Cup starts at "The Lady in Black," his recent experience at this track has been limited. Before placing 23rd back in May, his next most recent Cup start at this track was back in 2018, where he finished 22nd.
