3 months agoAJ Allmendinger will be making his first start in the NASCAR Cup Series at Michigan this afternoon after it was just announced on Thursday that he would return to the Cup Series full-time in 2025. However, don't expect much from him this weekend, as Michigan has never been one of his better tracks. He has never earned a top ten here in 22 career starts and has only led one lap here in his entire career in the Cup Series--although he did win an Xfinity Series race there in 2021. Allmendinger was unexpectedly fast in practice this weekend, posting the 10th-fastest time on Saturday, but since Kaulig Racing's best finish at Michigan is 17th and Allmendinger seems to be somewhat slower than he was, it's hard to envision him seriously contending, especially starting from 35th.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
