1 year agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey (oblique, ribs) is up in the air for the Week 7 game on Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings after he was injured in the Week 6 loss to the Cleveland Browns. However, head coach Kyle Shanahan was optimistic about McCaffrey on Monday. "But we've just got to see how it reacts. We've got to see exactly what's wrong with it too because we haven't got that back yet. We say oblique/rib, hopefully it's not both, but we've got to wait to see for sure," Shanahan said. There's a possibility CMC will be able to suit up and use a flak jacket to protect his ribs, but the team isn't sure yet. We should have a better idea of McCaffrey's status when the team resumes practicing on Wednesday. If he's unable to get the green light, Shanahan indicated both Jordan Mason and Elijah Mitchell would get opportunities in the backfield.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
