The NASCAR Cup Series ran the Shriners Children's 500 this past Sunday afternoon at Phoenix Raceway with Christopher Bell overcoming a late error by his pit crew at the start of the final Stage and getting the first win for Toyota for the 2024 season.
Bell was fourth-best when it came to Average Running Position in the race (7.82), thanks in part to that aforementioned pit crew error. He also struggled a bit early on in the race. The fastest car when it came to Average Running Position was Tyler Reddick (4.75), with pole sitter, Denny Hamlin, coming in second-best (5.98). Toyotas swept the top five in Average Running Position for this race.
Of the top five finishers in this weekend's event, Chris Buescher had the worst Average Running Position at 12.45, as he was mired back in traffic for much of the day but was able to show his speed late. The rest of the top five guys all ranked eighth or better when it came to Average Running Position. Ross Chastain, who finished in sixth-place, had an Average Running Position of 13.21, as he was mired back in traffic all day like Buescher.
