Philadelphia Eagles Trade LeSean McCoy To Bills

In case you were worried the pre-draft months would be boring or something, don't worry: the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly reached an agreement to trade running back LeSean McCoy to Buffalo for linebacker Kiko Alonso.

The trade can't go official until the start of the new league year next Tuesday, but you can bet that new Bills head coach Rex Ryan will be extremely happy with his shiny new running back, given how dependent his Jets teams were on the ground game and McCoy's undeniable ability.  The Eagles, on the other hand, acquired former Defensive Rookie of the Year Alonso to shore up their linebacking corps.  Alonso tore his ACL before the 2014 season, and is still rehabbing the injury.

McCoy's agent Drew Rosenhaus denies that a trade has occured, and McCoy himself is said to be unhappy with the deal.  We will report more as the situation develops over the next week.

The potential fantasy ramifications are plentiful: Ryan is a ground-and-pound coach, but how well can the Bills run given the uncertainty at quarterback?  What is next for scatback C.J. Spiller?  Can he find a team that doesn't insist on running him between the tackles?  Will the Eagles' defense, so powerful this year in fantasy, take a step up with the acquisition of a young, talented linebacker?

This trade is undeniably a blockbuster, considering McCoy's status as one of the best running backs in football.  Are the Eagles really getting enough for McCoy, who led the league in rushing in 2013?  Why did the Eagles feel they needed to move McCoy now?  Most importantly, did this really just happen?

We'll have to see what happens next Tuesday.  Either way, it should be fun.
