Philadelphia Eagles Biggest Offseason Needs - 2024 NFL Outlook

Jalen Hurts - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

What are the Philadelphia Eagles biggest offseason needs? What are their biggest priorities for the 2024 NFL offseason?

The Eagles' season spiraled out of control after a fantastic start, ending with a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Philadelphia struggled to replicate its 2022 success after both coordinators Shane Steichen and Jonathan Gannon left for head coaching jobs. They will have new coordinators on both sides of the ball this year, but it will be as a result of a failed season instead of a successful one this time.

Philadelphia finished 2023 12th in passing DVOA and fifth in rushing DVOA behind a dominant offensive line. Defense was their biggest issue all season, as they ended 29th against the pass and 22nd against the run.

What are the Eagles biggest needs in the 2024 NFL offseason? Who should they prioritize in the free agency period? Let's find out.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

What Are The Philadelphia Eagles Biggest Needs?

Philadelphia enters the offseason with around $19 million in cap space but both edge rushers, Haason Reddick and Josh Sweat, could be looking for new extensions this offseason before they hit free agency in 2025. D'Andre Swift is set to hit the market, and he is projected to get $6.25 million annually per PFF. Easily their biggest offseason change revolves around the future of center Jason Kelce, but the offensive line needs little work if he returns.

The Eagles need to focus on the defensive side of the ball in the offseason this year. While their offense looked basic to end the year and they had little answers for pressure, the talent is there without a doubt and the new scheme will hopefully return them to one of the league's best. Their defensive front has been invested in heavily recently, and they should look to add talent to the cornerback room around Darius Slay this offseason.

Who Should The Philadelphia Eagles Target This Offseason?

With the 22nd overall pick, the Eagles should try and find a lockdown cornerback like Quinyon Mitchell, Terrion Arnold, or Kool-Aid McKinstry. If they really want to get bold in upgrading the linebacker position, Patrick Queen should be available but will cost around $18 million annually.

On offense, finding a reliable heir to Kelce is logical regardless of if he returns in 2024 or not. Swift was great in 2023 and the Eagles should be interested in retaining him, but they could look at Saquon Barkley or an early Day 2 pick if they can't find an agreeable deal for Swift.

Finally, Philadelphia should look to add a veteran safety in free agency like Geno Stone, Kyle Dugger, or P.J. Locke to provide depth in that room. Ultimately, the Eagles' offseason is headlined by whether Kelce will return for another season or not.
