After hitting his 10th home run of the season, Pedro Alvarez left Wednesday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers with an undisclosed injury, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
The Pittsburgh Pirates first and third basemen was 1-for-3 with the homer that nearly left PNC Park, which helped the Bucs win 2-0. In his third at bat, Alvarez popped out in the sixth inning and did not come out in the next top inning.
The 28-year-old isn’t having the best season this year as he sports a meager .231 BA. He has nine home runs and 27 RBI. His numbers have dipped over the last two seasons after a 36 HR, 100 RBI season in 2013, which has been his only all-star season in six years. In 122 games last season, Alvarez had 18 HR and 56 RBI.
Sean Rodriguez replaced him at first and will likely play in his absence.
