ANALYSIS: I don't think, even you've been living under a rock for the past month, that you don't know about the whole saga surrounding Kyrie Irving and his anti-COVID-vax position. Let me boil it down to the simplest of terms for you: Irving is not vaccinating, New York doesn't allow such players to participate in basketball games, and all of a sudden Patty Mills has seen his backup role grow substantially from the day he was signed's expectations.
Of course, Brooklyn still has Kevin Durant and James Harden running the party, and the latter basically ruins Mills' chances of starting at the point. That being said, though, it makes no sense to find the Australian available in almost 60% of Yahoo leagues at this point. He's playing a fantastic 30 MPG in the early season, and although his usage rate isn't, let's say, otherworldly (16.8% and 7.1% in two games) that's nothing to worry about.
Mills dropped 21 points in G1 hitting 7-of-7 triples and then had another nice game for a backup last Friday putting up a total 11-2-2-1 line with 3 more treys on the day facing Philly. No turnovers for Patty so far, with 10 triples in two games and small-yet-steady contributions all across the board. Even with Irving back (whenever that happens) Mills will be one of the best power-subs in the whole NBA, so make sure you get some shares before GMs catch up with this man's upside and steal it from your WW.
