BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: QB1
ANALYSIS: Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a down year (in fantasy standards) last season as he threw for just 4,183 yards and 27 scores. This was his worst fantasy season since 2019 when he threw for 4,031 yards and 26 touchdowns.
However, the Chiefs receiving group was in a rebuilding phase last season and looks much improved entering this fall. Second-year wideout Rashee Rice should continue to develop. In addition, the Chiefs brought in veteran Marquise Brown (who will not play on Thursday due to a shoulder injury) and first-round pick Xavier Worthy. At the same time, tight end Travis Kelce will once again serve as the primary target and safety valve.

With their game-breaking speed, both Worthy and Brown should be able to see targets down the field, which was something the Chiefs offense lacked last season. This was evident in Mahomes' low 6.7 yards of average target depth.
On Thursday, he will face the same Baltimore team he defeated in the AFC Championship game. In that game, the 28-year-old totaled only 241 passing yards and scored 17.6 PPR points.
Even though Mahomes faces one of the toughest defenses in football this week, fantasy managers should never consider benching the three-time Super Bowl MVP in any league setting.

The wide receiver position has an advantage over the running back position in PPR scoring formats, typically. Not every WR is like this, though, […]
