BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 23% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Pablo Lopez is one of several young and promising starting pitchers for the Miami Marlins, and though his time in the big leagues thus far has been a bit shaky, he is off to an excellent start so far in 2020. In three starts, Lopez has accrued a 2.25 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts across 16.0 IP. Encouragingly, over that span, Lopez has only allowed four walks and a single home run.
Lopez is currently carrying a tense LOB rate of 78.3%, but it is much easier to strand base-runners when you increase your strikeout rate from 20.3% to 28.4%. The metrics on Lopez only get better: he is currently producing a dirt-heavy 2.70 GB/FB ratio with just 29.5% hard contact allowed while forcing 22.7% soft contact. If this was just a few weeks ago, we would all think that the Marlins wouldn't be doing much winning and that they all still might be sick, and at least for now, both of those notions have turned out to be false, so Pablo Lopez is bringing the complete package into each start.
