OwnersBox Quarterback Picks
On OwnersBox, you have the option of starting two quarterbacks as this is a Superflex contest.
Lamar Jackson, BAL ($8,200) - @ DET
Let's caveat this by saying that Lamar missed practice on Thursday, but it sounds like he's good to go on Sunday.
This is a week where I'm willing to pay up at quarterback for someone like Jackson. Why? Because he plays the Lions! They've allowed the 12th-most passing yards this season and let the Niners throw for over 300 yards on them. Jimmy Garoppolo had 314 yards and a touchdown against this team. Trey Lance checked in and threw for a touchdown.
And the Lions were gashed on the ground by Elijah Mitchell, then a week later by Aaron Jones.
Jackson is good at throwing. He's good at running. He's going to do plenty of both things in this game!
Daniel Jones, NYG ($5,900) - vs ATL
Daniel Jones is coming off of a really, really strong fantasy game in Week 2. He was 22-for-32 throwing the ball, passing for 249 yards and a touchdown. He also had 95 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.
Jones has seen an increase in his rushing usage. Dating back to last season, he's rushed the ball six or more times in three consecutive games. In Week 1, the Falcons allowed Jalen Hurts to pass for 264 yards and three touchdowns, plus he added 62 yards on the ground. Jones isn't Hurts, but it's definitely worth noting that this Falcons defense has struggled, allowing the 12th-most yards through two games and the 10th-most yards per play.
OwnersBox Running Back Picks
Antonio Gibson, WAS ($6,300) - @ BUF
Gibson is someone whose value seems to be dropping, but that just means that there's more room for you to get him on the cheap for one of his bounce-back games, right?
He has 33 carries through two games, but hasn't been used a ton in the passing game yet. Still, he's getting 15-plus touches per game and doesn't appear to be limited by the shoulder issue he was dealing with last week based on practice.
The Bills have a good run defense, but this pick isn't about the defense -- it's about Gibson being priced as an RB2 but having RB1 upside.
OwnersBox Wide Receiver Picks
K.J. Osborn, MIN ($4,600) - vs SEA
After one week, I thought "Osborn is interesting, but that was too much usage for the third receiver on the Minnesota Vikings."
But after he saw six more targets last week and turned that into five catches for 91 yards and a score, I'm all in on Osborn at this salary.
He's playing 72 percent of the team's offensive snaps. He's second on the team in air yards and has been targeted just two fewer times than Adam Thielen. The Vikings seem to be shifting some of the tight end usage over towards Osborn.
And Seattle has allowed the 11th-most passing yards this season.
Van Jefferson, LAR ($4,000) - vs TB
We here at RotoBaller have a lot of DFS tools, and those tools have been heavily pushing me towards Rams players this week. My initial thought was "no, eww, the machines are wrong."
But then I dug in.
Jefferson was just three targets per game this year, but he faces a Tampa defense that isn't what it seems on paper.
Tampa has allowed the second-fewest rushing yards in the NFL, but the story about the pass game is different. Through two games, the team has allowed 684 passing yards, the third-most in the NFL.
And through two games, Matthew Stafford has thrown for 599 yards, the seventh-most in the NFL.
So, yeah, I'm getting Rams in a lot of my lineups this week. Jefferson is a risky Ram to play, but I'm going to have him in a few of these big-field DFS contests to help differentiate my lineups, in hopes that some of the yards that Stafford racks up in this one end up going towards him.
