Otto Porter Jr. is worth considering as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 8 of the NBA season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 41% of leagues
ANALYSIS: At this point in the regular season and I don't think it makes much sense to keep doubting the Warriors. Golden State is as strong as ever, is coming off breaking the Suns' 18-game winning streak after defeating them on Friday, and the Dubs are sitting atop the Western Conference after 22 games. Not bad, is it? And while Otto Porter Jr. has definitely not been the main reason for the 19-3 record, the truth is that he's steadily contributing on his off-the-pine-and-growing role.
Otto could only play an average of 17 MPG from tip-off to Nov. 18 only topping 20 minutes once all the way back in October. He is now playing 24 MPG in the past two weeks of play (six games for him) while he's logged 20+ minutes in all of those six. Quite a change. Since Nov. 21 (included), Otto is putting up numbers. The average per-game line is sitting at 11-6-1-1 in that six-game span, Otto has connected for a trey in all but one of those games (in fact, he's scoring 2.8 triples a day) and although the shooting volume is always going to be low he's making the most of his chances.
Porter has scored 3+ treys on four of his past six games. He's grabbing boards like a madman for his role and playing time, and he's also limiting turnovers to just 0.65 per game over the full season making him a nice WW target for those managing in 9-cat fantasy leagues. The steals are fantastic too if you're needy on that front as Otto is committing one theft a game over his 21 games played.
