BALLER MOVE: Continue Scouting / Add in AL-Only Leagues
ANALYSIS: The good news is that Arcia is striking out less than he did in nearly 100 games with Minnesota last year. The bad news is that it’s not enough to overcome his extremely poor ability to get on base. He’s swinging at nearly 45% of all pitches seen outside the zone and is only making contact with 79% of the pitches he’s swinging at in the strike zone. Neither of those numbers suggest any type of success at the plate. At only 23 years old, it’s still likely that Arcia could have a productive career and should be considered in prospect keeper leagues. For 2014, unless his power starts showing, you’ll need to stay away from him and his projected high strike out rate except for AL-Only leagues.
