Orleans Darkwa (RB, NYG) - Waiver Wire Pickup

BALLER MOVE: Pick up in 12 team leagues.

OWNED IN: 29% Fleaflicker

ANALYSIS: When you think of New York Giants running backs, the name Orleans Darkwa doesn't usually come to mind. However, with Shane Vereen out for the season, and Rashad Jennings continuing to nurse a bad thumb, Darkwa has received a good amount of carries in their absence. In Week 3, Orleans went 10 for 53 and one touchdown, and in Week 4 he submitted a similar week with 12 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown as well. What makes him a viable pickup and not some scrub splitting carries is that he has been getting all of the goal-line work. When the Giants get close, they call his number. Keep in mind that his fantasy football value is very short-lived. Once Jennings is back and healthy, Darkwa will become an immediate afterthought. If Jennings is out again, those in need with bye week or injury troubles might want to look his way for Week 5 against the not-so-great Packers defense.
