Orlando Arcia is not a viable fantasy baseball waiver wire pickup for Week 8 (2024). Fantasy baseball managers should leave Arcia on the waiver wire in all formats.
BALLER MOVE: Leave on the wire
ROSTERED IN: 20% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Orlando Arcia is getting reps as the Braves' everyday shortstop but not because of his bat. Arcia is one of the best defensive shortstops in the game but his production at the plate simply has not been there.
The 29-year-old is hitting .248 with four homers and a .680 OPS through 39 games on the season, walking in a minuscule 3.2% of his trips to the plate despite a quality 15.6% strikeout rate. Furthermore, it appears he has actually been fortunate to produce a .295 wOBA as his .259 xwOBA sits in the league's fifth percentile.

It's not difficult to see why the Braves continue to roll him out as he has managed a 0.9 fWAR despite a bat that has been 12% below the league average, as per his 88 wRC+. He did slug 17 home runs last season, but with a .133 isolated power through 820 MLB games, it's clear prospective fantasy managers shouldn't expect much power from the veteran.
Arcia is best left on the wire with higher ceiling options available in just about every format.
