After Brad Keselowski became the first driver to win multiple races this season after he picked up the checkered flag at Martinsville last weekend. The win and 55 points have brought him within four points of leader Kyle Larson. Now the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series travels to Texas for the O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 on Sunday.
This year's race will be like racing on the track for the first time as Texas Motor Speedway underwent some construction since the fall race. Not only did they repave the track to help with drainage and rain delays, they also reconstructed turns one and two. The banking was reduced from 24 to 20 degrees and the turns were also widened from about 60 feet to around 80 feet. Track owner Eddie Gossage said the changes were put in place to have two completely different ends of the track and giving drivers more room for passing. It will definitely make restarts exciting as it will be a drag race to turn one followed by three to four wide racing through the first two turns. Watching practice this morning, they were talking about the mid-corner speeds and that turns three and four were right around 20 mph faster than turns one and two. It will come down to what team can come up with the most balanced setup during the race to attack both ends of the track. Let's jump right into the picks.
Daily Fantasy NASCAR: DraftKings DFS Lineup Picks - O'Reilly Auto Parts 500
Kyle Busch ($9,900)
It was a very peculiar qualifying session as nine cars didn't make it through tech inspection and will start from the rear of the field. Busch is one of them and will start 34th on Sunday opening up a ton of place differential value at a place he has finished Top 5 at in five straight and seven of his last eight races. His price is back below $10K and is an elite play in all formats.
Brad Keselowski ($10,500)
With so many high-end options with big time place differential value, there will be some ownership separation with a few drivers. While I don't think Brad will be overlooked, I do think he will be lower owned than Larson, Busch, Johnson and Elliott. He qualified 5th and then came out early Saturday morning and posted the fastest speed in practice two. Stack him with Logano who also qualified inside the top five and posted the sixth-fastest speed in practice two.
Kasey Kahne ($7,300)
Another driver who missed qualifying and will start back in the field in the 35th position. This s excellent value at just $7,300 this week as Kahne has been very impressive here at Texas. Over the last two years, he has finished 8th, 8th, 20th, and 8th and looking at his form this season, he hasn't finished outside the Top 20. Another Top 20 this week would be a nice DK points paying day for your fantasy team. Lock him in.
Chris Buescher ($6,000)
In the bottom tier, Buescher is the man as he was the only driver to have seen the track(post re-pave) before opening practice on Friday. He got to take a pace car ride with Rich Phillips of Texas Motor Speedway which doesn't seem like a lot but any extra track time is big in NASCAR. Buescher missed qualifying with eight other drivers and will start all the way back in 38th on Sunday. He was 21st in second practice and is an elite play in all formats.
