New York Giants star Odell Beckham Jr. is still battling a hamstring injury as he hopes to play on Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles. Beckham has missed practice all week but head coach Tom Coughlin said the stud wide receiver is capable of playing even if he doesn’t get a practice in. Many coaches refuse to play their stars if they can’t get through one practice in the week but Coughlin’s words gives hope for Beckham’s status.
The matchup doesn’t get any better than the weak Eagles secondary. Beckham dominated Philadelphia in the final game of last season with twelve catches for 185 yards and a touchdown. The game taking place on Monday puts fantasy owners in a tough situation. It’s the last game of the week giving very little options to fall back on if risking the status of Beckham.
An interesting fail-safe for Beckham owners would be fellow Giants wide receiver Dwayne Harris. Over the last two weeks, Harris has eleven catches on fourteen targets for 123 yards and a touchdown. If Beckham sits, Harris should have a good game against Philadelphia’s defense with more targets available. Beckham is expected to be a game-time decision so look for Harris or Rueben Randle as potential backup plans for Monday night.
