Nyheim Hines (RB, IND) - Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickups

Colts running back (RB) Nyheim Hines is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 2 of the 2020 NFL season.

BALLER MOVE: Add in All PPR Leagues

ROSTERED: 16% of Leagues

ANALYSIS: First carry from a Colts' rusher this season: Marlon Mack. First touchdown from a Colts' rusher: Nyheim Hines. No Jonathan Taylor at sight to start Week 1's game with the proven Mack taking on the rushing duties and Hines doing so on the passing downs. Until Mack was no more, that was.  And Mack was thriving on all fronts, don't get it wrong: before leaving injured (probably for all of the season) Mack had racked up 26 yards rushing and 30 receiving.

But bad luck stroke and Mack was forced out opening the door to both Hines and Taylor. It was then when Hines proved he can be a very very valuable player in 2020 fantasy football leagues, no matter the format (although he'll always have the edge on PPR ones thanks to his usage in the passing game and Philip Rivers' tendencies). Hines leveled up as he ever has, finished W1 with 27.3 PPR points (he never reached 14+ in 2019), led the Colts' tailbacks in rushing (28) and receiving (45) yardage, and caught the eight passes in which he was targeted. It was a pleasure to watch.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that Hines was able to score both on the ground and through the air, finishing the day (Monday's games still to be played at the time of this writing) as the top-15 player in PPR fantasy leagues. Uh, oh. You know the best of all? Hines is rostered in around one of each six leagues, which was ridiculous before Mack injuries and borderline insane now. Don't lose a second and do everything you can to add Hines to your roster, because he has everything to become a true league-changer.
