ANALYSIS: Is it time to finally trust Noah Fant as a TE1? Judging by Week 9, it is. Judging by his prior two games, it might not be. Fant had his best game of the year against the Cardinals last Sunday but endured a rough stretch right before that one. He had shown some fantasy-scoring prowess earlier this year, though, so he might be just starting to fulfill the promises.
Fant is barely rostered but that's reasonable considering he had topped at 10.5 PPR points prior to his Week 9 explosion for 96 yards on five receptions (6 targets). Fant already scored a touchdown earlier this year but it didn't really help him that much considering that came on a single-reception, two-yard catch back on Week 4.
Through Week 9 and without having gone on a bye yet, Fant has scored the 19th-most PPR fantasy points among players at the position. Fant has, though, the 11th-highest PPR/Target mark through W9 with 1.77 such points on a per-target basis (min. 20 targets) and that is having just one TD scored over the season. Remove touchdowns from the calculation, and Fant ranks an even better fifth-best only behind Goedert, Njoku, Dissly, and Kelce.
Of course, at the end of the day Fant has only scored TE1-level points once this season and we're already past the midpoint of the year. Fant, though, comes with the potential to flip the narrative and have a productive second half of the season while improving his results as the fantasy playoffs come closer each passing week. He's still widely available.
Nice flier to take by those desperate for something fresh to start at TE in deeper formats.
