Nicolas Claxton is worth considering as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 4 of the 2022-23 NBA season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 57% of leagues
ANALYSIS: The Nets might be in the middle of a very serious discombabulation, but at least they know they can count of 1) Kevin Durant putting on nightly shows and 2) a steady big man in young Nicolas Claxton. That's correct. Claxton is, with 10 games played in Brooklyn's case, the best player in total FP outside of KD and Kyrie playing in BK.
Claxton has accrued 306+ total FP playing (and starting) in all 10 games to date. He's done in to the tune of extraordinary 12-9-1 average lines with 2+ BPG per game. All of that while spending nearly 29 minutes on the court and having a really low 16.5 USG%.
Even on such low usage rates, when it comes to hitting buckets Claxton has still found his way toward scoring 10+ points in seven of his 10 games played. He is definitely not one to stretch the floor, mind you, but that helps his sky-high 72+ FG%.
There are 10 players blocking more than two shots per game through Saturday and two of them play in Brooklyn: one is KD (99% rostership) and the other is Nic (57%). You know what to do. As far as the others go, they are all rostered in 62%+ of all ESPN leagues at the very least or they're named Bismack Biyombo (14 MPG...) Charles Bassey (12 total MP this season in a single game).
