ANALYSIS: Nico Collins is a classic case of a talented player stuck on a bad team.
In search of a spark, the Houston Texans benched incumbent starting QB Davis Mills in favor of Kyle Allen against the Miami Dolphins in Week 12. Allen's impact was minimal, as the lowly Texans only mustered 15 points in a loss to the Dolphins.
Trapped in Houston's passing "attack", Collins recorded six catches and 44 yards against Miami. He's now topped 40 yards in seven of his last eight games.
Collins' volume remains encouraging. He saw nine targets in Week 12 and has now had seven or more targets in three straight. Despite the strong usage and his talent, the dynamic receiver's fantasy upside is capped to a certain extent in a Texans offense that ranks dead last in the NFL in Pass Offense DVOA.
His consistent target share makes him worth an add in deeper fantasy leagues, but Collins' managers should expect nothing more than WR3 production due to Houston's overall offensive deficiencies.
