ANALYSIS: Nick Senzel is currently plying his trade for the Louisville Bats of the International League, but that could change soon. One of the best prospects in baseball, Senzel was the second overall pick in the 2016 amateur draft and has moved quickly through the Reds' minor league system. The 22-year-old is known for his advanced plate approach and great bat-to-ball skills, and his burgeoning power should play up at Great American Ball Park.
Senzel moved around the infield in spring training, taking reps at both second base and shortstop in addition to third. He was initially playing second for Lousville, but has moved back to third in recent days. That's not surprising after Reds' third baseman Eugenio Suarez suffered a broken thumb. All of this indicates that Cincinnati is intent on getting Senzel's bat into the lineup once he's promoted. When that happens is anyone's guess due to service time considerations, but no one questions the talent here. You'll need to be proactive if you want Senzel on your fantasy roster; as his current ownership rate indicates, plenty of owners are already stashing him in anticipation of his call-up. If you've got a roster spot to spare, you could do a lot worse.
