BALLER MOVE: Avoid unless desperate for QB2
OWNED IN: 28% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: Seven passing touchdowns in seven games. Fewer than 200 passing yards in six of his seven games. Todd Gurley's emergence as one of the NFL's preeminent running backs. These are just a few of the reasons why you should steer clear of St. Louis Rams quarterback Nick Foles.
The Rams, if you haven't noticed, have a specific winning formula -- they run the ball and play solid defense. In their last two games (24-6 win vs. Cleveland, 27-6 win vs. San Francisco), Foles has thrown for 354 total yards, barely outpacing Gurley (261 rushing yards) through the air. The Rams go on the road this weekend to face a Minnesota Vikings defense that ranks among the NFL's top 10 in passing yards allowed. Until a team slows down Gurley, puts up points against the Rams' stout defense and forces Foles to throw, the Rams will follow the formula that's gotten them to 4-3.
In a week where Carson Palmer, Russell Wilson, Matthew Stafford, Joe Flacco and Brian Hoyer are all on bye weeks, starting Foles as a QB2 in two-quarterback leagues might be unavoidable. But if you're expecting any kind of offensive breakout this week, you're going to be disappointed.
