BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 27% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed had a dreadful start to the year, going just 2-for-25 with no extra-base hits in July. However, August has been a completely different story. Through his first 18 games of August, Ahmed slashed .349/.397/.556 with three home runs, four doubles and 16 RBI.
Ahmed was a usable fantasy player in deep leagues last year as he posted career highs in both home runs (19) and RBI (82). He has a career OPS of just .680, but the strides he made last year, when his OPS jumped up to .753, indicate that he's introduced more power potential into his game.
If you need infield help in deep leagues, Ahmed is a viable option as a reliable, everyday player. He's best tailored as a backup infielder for daily-lock leagues to help give you insurance that you'll have a full lineup. He started 24 of the Diamondbacks' first 26 games. In more shallow leagues, he can remain on waivers.
