NHL Waiver Wire Adds: 12/18 to 12/24
As I analyze the available players for your team, I will pay close attention to those who have potentially been promoted in the lineup, either due to their excellent performance or because of a teammate's injury.
Additionally, I will consider players who have an advantageous schedule this week, meaning they are facing weaker opponents or playing in favorable conditions. Lastly, I will keep an eye out for players who could be receiving a boost from an injury, whether it's their own or their teammates, as this could increase their playing time and overall performance.

NHL Waiver Wire Goalies
Semyon Varlamov
Opponents this week - Toronto, Edmonton, Buffalo
Varlamov is rostered in 26.1% of ESPN leagues
Varlamov, who serves as Ilya Sorokin's backup, has performed remarkably well this season with six wins and two shutouts. In fact, he has played so well that he could easily be a starting goalie for more than half of the teams in the league. Considering Sorokin's new contract that kicks in next season, the Islanders might consider moving Varlamov. Therefore, adding him to your team now could prove to be a smart move.
Other options
- Sam Montembeault- 6.6% rostered ESPN
NHL Waiver Wire Forwards
Opponents - Florida, Anaheim, Los Angeles
Coleman is currently rostered in 16.6% of ESPN leagues
Coleman is a versatile player who can make significant contributions to your team in many ways. He has strong skills in scoring, assisting goals, shooting, hitting, and killing penalties. Additionally, he is part of one of the best third lines in hockey. If your team lacks depth in the forward position, then Coleman is definitely someone to consider adding to your roster. He can help you accumulate stats across multiple categories.

NHL Waiver Wire Defensemen
Opponents - Colorado, Vegas, Montreal, St.Louis
Murphy is rostered in 9.6% of ESPN leagues
Murphy is a defenseman who excels at blocking shots and hitting opponents. Despite scoring only one goal this season, he possesses some offensive ability. However, he is not likely to get any opportunities on the power play and is usually assigned to penalty killing duties, which results in numerous blocked shots. With Jones out, Murphy is playing significant minutes in a young Blackhawks defense. If you are in a deeper league, I think Murphy is the ideal defenseman to have on your bench for a spot start.
Other Options
- Oliver Ekman-Larsson- 42.8% rostered ESPN
