Jon Irvin's NHL DFS picks for today's contests on FanDuel and DraftKings. Use Jon's picks to win money playing NHL DFS on 4/21/25.
Hey, RotoBallers! I want to introduce myself formally. My name is Jon Irvin. Some of you may know me from the Discord channels, and you know I love breaking down DFS slates, especially in MLB and NHL. I enjoy deep dumpster diving, so to speak, and look forward to helping find the low-owned, overlooked, and unwanted plays.
I predominantly play on DraftKings, so some of my picks are more tailored to their point/price system, but a good spot is a good spot regardless of the platform.
Welcome back, my friends, to the show that never ends. We're so glad you could attend. Come inside! Today's DFS content will be for the main slate for both DraftKings and FanDuel for Monday, April 21, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. EDT. Welcome to the 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs! For the first time in playoff history, we're without all four U.S.-based original teams (Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, and the New York Rangers. Tonight's slate features game two in the STL/WPG and COL/DAL series while tipping off the MTL/WAS and EDM/LAK matchups.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks
Value in net is key on DK with a three-point bonus at the 35-save mark. We can afford to give up an extra goal or two if our goalie can see a steady shot volume against him. Those extra few hundred can get us those top-line forwards.
Darcy Kuemper - DK $7.8K || FD $7.7K
Opponent - Edmonton Oilers
Darcy has been a thorn in Edmonton's side in all four match-ups this season. Holding a 3-1 advantage versus the Oilers with a .960 SV percentage and a 1.00 GAA, including back-to-back clean sheets to close them out. For most of the year, the Kings have limited scoring and high-danger chances, leading to softer save opportunities for Kuemper.
Others to consider: Stuart Skinner (DK $7.6K || FD $7.5K)
DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks
Pierre-Luc Dubois - DK $4.8K || FD $6.6K
Opponent - Montreal Canadians
Top seed Washington hosts Montreal tonight, setting up a somewhat easy opening-round matchup. Line 2 center Dubois has been a menace over his last 10 home games, albeit with a slight negative expected goal difference; his metrics should continue to lead to production vs the Canadians. With allocation on the second PP unit, Pierre-Luc should receive extra minutes against a bottom-tier PK unit.
Others to consider: Adam Lowry ( DK $3.3K || FD $4.7K)
DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks
Gabriel Landeskog - DK $3.0K || FD $4.5K
Opponent- Dallas Stars
Mere speculation suggests that Ross Colton will sit in tonight's Game 2, paving the way for the reemergence of Landeskog after his three-year absence due to a knee injury. Gabriel recently completed a back-to-back two-game conditioning stint in the AHL, which yielded four shots, a goal, and an assist.
Others to consider: Ross Colton (DK $3.6K || FD $5.1K (C on FD))
DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks
When selecting defensemen, especially on DK, I tend to look for players with a high chance of both blocks and shots, rather than concentrating too much on point dependency.
Brett Kulak - DK $3.2K || FD $4.2K
Opponent - Los Angeles Kings
With Mattias Ekholm expected to miss the first round of the playoffs, Kulak's spot in the lineup is firmly in place. With additional minutes surpassing 25, Brett has shown his ability to add production from both sides of the blueline. Lack of PP time limits his ceiling, but allocation on the PK2 unit leads to more block potential.
Others to consider: Sam Malinski (DK $3.1K || FD $4.3K)
My top 25 defensemen chart focuses more on shot and block peripherals to find a safer floor over the last month.
