Hey, RotoBallers! I want to introduce myself formally. My name is Jon Irvin. Some of you may know me from the Discord channels, and you know I love breaking down DFS slates, especially in MLB and NHL. I enjoy deep dumpster diving, so to speak, and look forward to helping find the low-owned, overlooked, and unwanted plays.
I predominantly play on DraftKings, so some of my picks are more tailored to their point/price system, but a good spot is a good spot regardless of the platform.
Welcome back, my friends, to the show that never ends. We're so glad you could attend. Come inside! Today's DFS content will be for the main slate for both DraftKings and FanDuel for Monday, March 24, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. EDT. Tonight we have a fun four-gamer featuring the return of Sean Monahan for the Blue Jackets, who desperately need a finisher. Without many top-end offenses, builds should be fairly easy whichever way you go.
DraftKings and FanDuel NHL DFS Picks: First Look Stats
After reading this, jump into the RotoBaller Discord NHL channel and chat about today's slate with all the other great minds. Don’t forget to check out our valuable NHL tools, including the NHL DFS Heat Map. I've begun implementing my personal trend chart. This looks at the average between the L25 and L10, weighing the L10 heavier to help find specific positive or negative trends.
DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks
Value in net is key on DK with a three-point bonus at the 35-save mark. We can afford to give up an extra goal or two if our goalie can see a steady shot volume against him. Those extra few hundred can get us those top-line forwards.
Filip Gustavsson - DK $7.2K || FD $7.5K
Opponent - Dallas Stars
Gusty has righted the ship, saving 82 out of the last 84 shots on goal over the past three games. Tonight, Filip travels to Dallas to face the struggling Stars, who have a 2.24 xGF at home over the last 10 games. Also going in his favor have been his home/away splits, with better stats proving to be on the road.
Others to consider: Marc-Andre Fleury (DK $7.2K || FD $7.5K)
DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks
Justin Danforth - DK $2.9K || FD $4.3K (NOTE: He Is Listed as a W on FD)
Opponent - New York Islanders
Metrics and records sometimes fail to match. With surging offensive metrics, including a 3.03 xGF on the road, which ranks third-best over the last 10 games, Columbus still has a losing record during the same span. The Blue Jackets welcome back top-line center Monahan, who should keep the Islanders keying in on stopping him.
Danforth and the rest of the third line have great stats on the road over the past 10 games. Lack of minutes 5v5 and without power play assignment creates a minimal path compared to others but price point reigns supreme with value plays. A goal under 3k can set your night up quite nicely.
Others to consider: Jack McBain (DK $3.0K || FD $4.5K )
DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks
Lawson Crouse - DK $3.8K || FD $4.1K
Opponent - Detroit Red Wings
Lawson and his linemates are another third-line showing incredible metrics, especially at home. As a team, Utah's 3.23xGF at home ranks third highest over the past ten days. Crouse also correlates with Jack McBain on the second power-play unit for additional TOI.
Others to consider: Mathieu Olivier (DK $3.6K || FD $4.9K)
DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks
When selecting defensemen, especially on DK, I tend to find players with a high chance at both blocks and shots and not concentrate so much on point dependency.
SPEND UP AT DEFENSEMAN
With the value deep in both center and winger, defenders may be the key to the highest floor with high ceiling potential. Keying in on our top three players on the top 25 chart, the following three are primed for big nights and should be included in any stack.
Zach Werenski - DK $7.6K || FD $7.0K
Noah Dobson - DK $7.0K || FD $6.4K
Moritz Seider - DK $6.1K || FD $5.8K
Others to consider: Mike Reilly (DK $3.1K || FD $3.9K)
My top 25 defensemen chart focuses more on shot and block peripherals to find a safer floor over the last month.
