Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks article for March 24th of the 2015/2016 NHL season. Each day we'll be providing you with a handful of forward, defensemen, and goaltender picks for DraftKings and FanDuel GPP and cash games.
After a quiet two game slate on Wednesday, we are back with a huge 11 game slate on Thursday. It is possible we could see a very high scoring night as the 10 worst defenses in the NHL are all in action.
The two top matchups of the night are the top ranked offense in the Dallas Stars facing the Arizona Coyotes who rank 28th in defense. The Stars have continued to score and win despite losing their top center, Tyler Seguin. Expect the same tonight.
The second best matchup on the night is the third ranked offense in the San Jose Sharks hosting the Edmonton Oilers and their 25th ranked defense. The Sharks have been a much better team on the road this year but the Oilers own the leagues worst road record with only 11 wins on the season. Look for a Sharks win in a game that should reach the over.
At this time there are six goalies (Semyon Varlamov-COL, Niklas Backstrom-CGY, Ben Scrivens-MTL, Garret Sparks-TOR, Scott Wedgewood-NJ, Roberto Luongo-FLA) confirmed starting. Be sure to check LeftWingLock prior to lineup lock.

NHL DFS Picks for Thursday, March 24th
A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.
For large field tournaments (GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi point upside and can grab double digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.
Let's take a look at some solid plays for today's action.
Pekka Rinne - Goaltender, Predators (Draftkings - $8,100 FanDuel - $8,800)
The Predators have a comfortable seven point lead in the Western Conference wild card in large part to the outstanding play of their goaltender. Rinne has been red hot lately with a 8-1-1 record and .928 save % over his last 10 starts. The Preds are huge home favorites on Thursday vs. the Canucks who have been struggling, losing five straight and seven of their last 10 games.
Claude Giroux - Center, Flyers (DraftKings - $7,100 FanDuel - $8,100)
With a game in hand, the Flyers sit tied with the Red Wings for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. Giroux will look to put the team on his back again as he has been leading the way with goals in two straight and points in four of his last five games. He has really seen an increase in shot volume lately with 13 shots in his last two and 42 shots in his last 10 games.
Jamie Benn - Winger, Stars (DraftKings - $8,000 FanDuel - $8,300)
As the season winds down, Benn has found the offense which he displayed early in the season with 12 points in his last 10 games. With the loss of Tyler Seguin for the remainder of the regular season he will take on an even bigger role as the Stars try to hold onto the Central Division lead and home ice advantage in the playoffs. At his current salary his safe for cash games and provides big upside with four multi point efforts in his last 10 games.
Jakob Silfverberg - Winger, Ducks (DraftKings - $4,900 FanDuel - $6,200)
He has been an extremely consistent fantasy option for the Ducks recently. In his previous five games he has scored six goals and added two assists. His floor is high on both sites as he is averaging over three shots on goal per game lately with a fantastic +8 rating. The Ducks get a terrific matchup on Thursday as they face the Leafs who became the first team to be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.
Michael Stone - Defense, Coyotes (DraftKings - $5,100 FanDuel - $4,000)
He continues to be vastly under priced on FanDuel and a must play in cash games. While he only has six points in his last 10 games, he has provided a safe floor with 32 shots on goal and four powerplay points. He has added value on DraftKings where he gets rewarded for blocks. He has tallied 23 over his previous 10 games.
