Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks article for 3/22/16of the 2015/2016 NHL season. Each day we'll be providing you with a handful of forward, defensemen, and goaltender picks for DraftKings and FanDuel GPP and cash games.
With 10 games on the slate Tuesday, there are deals and exciting match-ups galore. That might go without saying on most nights where there are 10 games, but with just a few weeks until the end of the season and two teams clinched already, there are only a few teams playing really meaningful hockey.
If you're a believer in desperation triggering some good performances, look to the Philadelphia Flyers, Detroit Red Wings and Minnesota Wild. All three play Tuesday and are in desperate need of wins.
Let's get into it.

NHL DFS Picks for 3/22/16
A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots (DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.
For large field tournaments (GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi point upside and can grab double digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.
Let's take a look at some solid plays for today's action.
Erik Haula, Center, Wild (DraftKings - $4,000)
You might be asking yourself what we're thinking ranking Haula as a player you should target. Here's the deal: His minutes are rising, he's on a five-game point streak, and he's been thriving since John Torchetti took over as head coach. He's tied for the 16th most points in the NHL since Torchetti arrived on February 15. This is a great price on a guy who is making anyone he plays with look good.
Nino Niederreiter, Right Wing, Wild (DraftKings - $4,400)
Niederreiter has been Haula's only consistent winger and is having the same kind of success. He has the best relative possession in the NHL this season and it's translating into points. He ranks 12th in the NHL in total points since Torchetti took over the Wild bench.
Zach Bogosian, Defense, Sabres (DraftKings - $4,600)
The prices have not yet caught up with what Bogosian is doing. The man has been solid with five goals and 11 points over his last 14 games. He's providing depth value, particularly if you're front-loading your roster with forwards. Additionally, Bogosian is getting points across categories with an average of four shots per game over his last 10 and is consistently accumulating blocked shots. He's had at least one in each of his last 16 games.
Steve Mason, Goaltender, Flyers (DraftKings - $7,400)
Mason is taking the reins in Philadelphia now that Michal Neuvirth is expected to miss the rest of the regular season. He's put in a couple of solid starts since the news came down. If you believe that good players are capable of rising to the occasion, Mason is a great candidate. The Flyers have to win and they're facing one of the league's worst teams.
John Gibson, Goaltender, Ducks (DraftKings - $7,700)
Equally interesting and a good deal at goaltender is Gibson. It's not a guarantee that he gets the start, but his counterpart, Frederik Andersen, is a good deal as well, costing just $7,900 at DraftKings. The 22-year-old has been above a .905 save percentage in eight of his last nine starts. His opponent, Montreal, has a mess of injuries and has struggled against lesser opponents recently. They scored just one goal against the Flames on Sunday, and were shutout by the Senators on Saturday.
Ben Bishop, Goaltender, Lightning (DraftKings - $8,100)
He's the fifth most expensive goaltender of the day, but Bishop has been very good in streaks. Yes, he's been streaky and the Red Wings, his opponent Tuesday, have rediscovered their scoring touch in the last two games. However, Bishop has shutouts in two of his last three starts, the game is in Tampa, and the Red Wings will find a difficult opponent there. Bishop isn't confirmed as the starter yet, but backup Andrei Vasilevskiy is just as good of a start Tuesday, priced at $8,000 on DraftKings.
Joe Thornton, Center, Sharks (DraftKings - $5,800)
Jumbo Joe is one of the most consistent players in the NHL. Since December 15, he has points in 38 of 43 games. He doesn't post huge shot totals, but there are few players that you can set your watch to like Thornton. His price is quite reasonable for a player scoring like he is.
