Week 6 Thursday Night Matchup & Sit/Start Advice
New York Giants @ Chicago Bears Thursday 10/10, 8:30PM
Matchup We Love: Jay Cutler, QB
If you need a QB due to injuries, underperformance or bye weeks, go grab Jay Cutler if he's available. The man with the big arm but questionable IQ is a must-start this week against a Giants squad whose season is all but over after an 0-5 start. The defense has been terrible of late, and the weak secondary is getting exposed now that the once-formidable NY pass rush has been failing to get to the QB. Cutler is always a risk for turnovers and underperformance, but there's nothing about the Giants D that makes me think they can stop him. This could end up being Cutler's best game of the year.
Analysis: If you need a QB, go get Cutler for this week. If you own him, he's a must-start.
Matchup We Hate: Da'Rel SCott, RB
Last week, the Giants cut Da'Rel Scott. The move gave new life to David Wilson's season, but after Wilson suffered a neck injury against Philly last week, the Giants brought Scott back, and now he's expected to start against the Bears on Thursday. He's been a hot pickup in many leagues, but unless every other running back on your team has died, there is no reason to grab him. The Giants rushing attack is putrid, and it doesn't matter who is back there. Going against the Bears defense is going to be a nightmare for this rushing unit, and there is a chance that the G-Men could be down big early. That means they'll be throwing all night.
Analysis: It's time to give up on any running back wearing a Giants uniform, especially against a defense like Chicago's.
Key Injuries: David Wilson RB, NYG (out), Corey Webster CB, NYG (out), Brandon Myers TE, NYG (questionable), Lance Briggs LB, CHI (questionable), Charles Tillman CB, CHI (questionable), Alshon Jeffrey WR, CHI (probable)
Start 'Em: Jay Cutler, Matt Forte, Brandon Marshall, Martellus Bennett, Bears DEF, Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks, Brandon Myers, Ruben Randall
