NFL Survivor League Picks – Survivor Pool Targets and Avoids (Week 8)

What's up RotoBallers. Welcome back to my weekly column for survivor league pools, giving you my NFL teams to target as survivor league picks - and those to avoid as well.

This will be one of the hardest weeks to make your survivor pick. The Rams, 49ers, Ravens, Steelers, and Giants are on bye. With six teams on bye, throw all the survivor rules out.

Editor's Note: New users that sign up on FantasyAces, make a $20 deposit, and enter any game will receive our full season NFL (or NBA) Premium Pass for free, a $59.99 value. Just email info@rotoballer.com with your new FantasyAces username - and boom, that's it! We will email you with your Premium pass.

Top Survivor Picks for Week 8

Chiefs -3 @Colts

The Chiefs may be extremely boring to watch, but they play smart, cohesive football. They haven't turned the ball over in their last two games, and are +7 in turnover margin, fourth-best in the league.

The Colts haven't dominated a game yet. Each win has been decided by one possession. They are also ranked in the bottom ten in both rushing and passings yards allowed per game.

Indy's offensive line is trying to get Andrew Luck knocked out. They've given up the most sacks, 25, as well as third most hits, 50. The Chiefs' pass rush has struggled, but something has to give. The Colts' receivers will struggle against the Chiefs' superb secondary that's allowed two 300-yard passers all season, making it difficult for Luck to get the ball out quickly, leading to more hits and sacks.

Patriots -7 @Bills

Under Bill Belichick, the Patriots have NEVER lost to the Bills twice in the same season. Enough said.

Top Survivor Picks to Avoid for Week 8

Jets -4.5 @Browns

Maybe this game could be for the first pick in the draft.

The Browns are a very bad football team, but they play hard and tough. In all their games, except for New England, they have had a legitimate chance to win at halftime. They are ninth in first half scoring at 12 points per game, but only score six points a game in the second half. The only worse second half team than the Browns? The Jets, who score 5.7 points.

I'm a Jets fan and I've had this game circled all year for the Browns to get their first win. It would be the Jetsiest thing ever to lose to Cleveland. Although the Browns' starting quarterback is up in the air, Kevin Hogan gives the Browns their best chance to win. Hogan was a four-year starter at Stanford, winning two Rose Bowls, and losing a third. He looked pretty good last week throwing and running for 100 yards, including a nifty touchdown scamper.
