Week 9 Quarterback Rankings Analysis
A lot of people are worried about Cam Newton but I am not among them. He's running a lot more over his last three games. Even though he only had 24 rush yards vs Seattle, I look at the 12 attempts a lot more. Seattle is still very good, New Orleans is not. He should have a big game Thursday night.
Colin Kaepernick comes in at QB6 and had his best game of the season against Seattle. Now he gets them coming off his bye and at home. He's thrown just two interceptions all season. He also has yet to score a rushing touchdown after having 9 the past two seasons, you can bet he's due for one of those sooner than later.
Alex Smith has his best matchup of the year this week vs the Jets. The Jets are just so bad right now that even for a QB with awful wide receivers I feel like Smith is guaranteed to get at least 15 points. The Jaguars have been much better on defense over their past few games which keeps Andy Dalton from being a great play this week. He's still a good one and I wouldn't worry if I had to start him.
The Bucs just got rid of some defensive players at the trade deadline making them an even worse team than before. Especially with the run game seeing a decline without Alex Mack, I like Brian Hoyer here. The Ravens will be without CB Jimmy Smith, but to expect another elite day from Big Ben would be a mistake. Don't play him because he was great last week, play him if he is your best option.
Robert Griffin III and Michael Vick are two interesting low-end options this week. I really don't know what to expect from RGIII and I'd prefer to not play him this week and if he looks good he becomes a viable option going forward. Vick ran for 69 yards last week. He could definitely run for 100+ this week but he is close to a zero in the passing game (He was in fact a 0 in the pass game last week with -2 for each turnover).
Good luck in Week 9 RotoBallers!
