Analysis: The Rams trade two first round picks, one second round pick, and two third round picks to the Titans for the first overall pick. With that pick, the selected Jared Goff, who many viewed as the most NFL ready quarterback in the draft. It was a major need for the Rams, and they did well to address the situation before playing out the season with Case Keenum leading the offense.
Jared Goff will enter camp as the favorite for the starting job, and he should have little to no problems securing it. He has a good arm and should have no problems leading the offense in his first season. With that being said, the Rams are an offense that will rely heavily on Todd Gurley, which will severely limit Goff's upside in his first season. There is little reason to believe the Rams will shy away from their ground and pound style of offense, as they nearly made the playoffs last season while shuffling backup level talent quarterbacks. Goff has QB2 upside for this season, but he likely won't have all that much impact in redraft leagues this season.
His dynasty league appeal, however, is significantly higher. Sure, this was somewhat of a weak draft class for the quarterback, but Goff was still the first overall selection, and he possesses good upside for his career. The Rams focused on adding weapons for Goff later in the draft, which means they may be getting ready to balance their offense out a bit more. Goff will also have an extremely easy time throwing off of play action with Gurley behind him, and he could be a great fantasy asset in a few years.
