Recommended Pick: Patrick Mahomes more than 315.5 passing yards and Justin Herbert more than 289.5 passing yards.
This game is poised to be a shootout as the current total is set at 54.5, which is easily the highest total on the board. Last week, Mahomes slayed the Cardinals by throwing for 360 passing yards in a game that was never close. This game should be closer and Mahomes has had some big games against these Chargers in the past as noted by his 410-yard performance against them in Week 15 last season. Last week, the Chargers allowed Derek Carr to throw for 295 yards, so Mahomes throwing for 320+ should not be a wild feat.
The Chargers will have to keep up with the Chiefs in this game, which is why I like Herbet in this one. Last week against the Raiders, Herbert threw the ball 34 times for 279 yards. In 2021, the Chiefs ranked eighth-worst in the league in terms of passing yards allowed to the quarterback position. Herbert also threw for more than 300 passing yards in nine games in 2021, and if this game flow goes as expected, he will likely have to do it again in order to bring the Chargers home a victory.

Austin Ekeler more than 19.5 points and Travis Kelce more than 17.5 fantasy points
Austin Ekeler had a lackluster performance in Week 1 as he was only able to muster 11.2 fantasy points against the Raiders. That being said, he will be relied upon heavily in a game that has a high total and figures to be very fast-based. This is a solid matchup for Ekeler, a strong pass-catching back, as the Chiefs ranked fourth-worst in terms of receptions allowed to the running back position and third-worst in terms of receiving yards allowed in 2021.
Kelce should be the focal point of this Chiefs' offense in Week 2 and is fresh off an eight-reception game where he racked up 121 receiving yards and a touchdown against the Raiders in Week 1. The matchup against the Chargers is a very good one as they ranked last in the league in terms of receiving yards allowed to the tight end in 2021 and also ranked second-worst in touchdowns allowed. He is poised to have a massive game in this one much like he did over two games in 2021 where he racked up 17 catches for 295 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Lock him in.
