ANALYSIS: It was very clear that Nemanja Bjelica was not going to be able to replicate his G1 outing against the Lakers his second time out, but it is also very clear how important Bjelica will be for this iteration of the Warriors before and after Klay/Wiseman get back to the court. Golden State handed a couple of millions this past offseason to make Bjelica a wing/big power-reserve and that's what he's been in the baby season.
Bjelica put up a ridiculous 15-11-4-1 line against LeBron & Co. back on Tuesday. He shot the rock 7 times and hit 5 of those attempts--including a three-pointer--with a couple of freebies baked into his total-point equation. The Serbian came down to earth in the game against the Clippers two days later with a more reasonable 6-6 outcome to go with a 60-percent FG%.
After starting pretty much every game in his Sacto days a few years back, Bjelica was a bench player for both the Kings and the Heat but that didn't mean his per-minute numbers dropped. Bjelica finished 2021 with an average 14-8-4-1 line per-36, which was virtually on par with the levels of play he'd shown earlier in his career. He should find it easy to log at least 15% usage rates coming off the Warriors pine daily, provide sky-high shooting percentages, limit turnovers, and grab a ton of boards no matter what; also, there is the upside for racking up some dimes when he shares the floor here and there with the likes of Steph, Klay, Poole, and Wiggings.
