ANALYSIS: Neil Walker has always been underappreciated in fantasy circles. Some of that has to do with the fact that he's only managed a full season's worth of plate appearances twice in his career, and some of it is that he doesn't really excel in any one area of the game. But at the end of the year, you're usually content with the steady production he provides in your MI slot.
The veteran returned on Friday from a six-week absence due to a hamstring injury. Before landing on the disabled list, he was pacing toward what could be considered a career year. He was hitting .270/.352/.468 with nine homers in 68 R+RBI in 60 games, with career-best strikeout and walk rates to boot. If you're among the unlucky owners who lost Starlin Castro or Chris Owings to injury recently, Walker would make for a solid replacement.
