NBA Rookie Fantasy Profile: De'Aaron Fox

Analysis: Fox was one of the top prospects in the NBA Draft. He could have been taken first overall if this draft was not loaded with point guards. Fox consistently stated that he felt he was the best overall player in the draft and that he would prove it throughout his career. The Kings felt the same, selecting him with the fifth overall pick.

Fox showed serious flashed throughout his only season of colligate basketball. He also struggled quite a bit at times. Overall, Fox averaged 16.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.5 steals in only 29.6 minutes per game. He also shot as solid 52% from two-point range and 73.9% from the free throw line. He struggled with his jump shot, though, and only made 24.6% of his three-point shots. He's a player that relies heavily on quickness, though, and he attacks the basket much more than he takes long range shots.

Fox looked like he was drafted to be the starting point guard for the Kings, but they later signed George Hill for that role. Fox will still be featured in a role, as he will be the first guard off the bench this season. It is not out of the question that he unseats Hill for the starting job as the season progresses, as well. It is a situation to monitor as the season progresses.

Bottom Line: Fox could struggle to see minutes immediately. If he is rewarded big minutes, he will contribute points, assists, and steals. He will likely struggle with his percentages, though, and he is not a point guard that will contribute rebounds or blocks at a high level.
