NBA Guards: Week 10 Waiver Wire Pickups & Sleepers

Bradley Beal was ruled out over a week ago and it was unknown who would step up while he was gone. So far Beal's role has been somewhat replaced by the surprising Garrett Temple for Washington. Both Eric Bledsoe and Alec Burks will be missing significant time because of serious injuries. Figuring out who steps in and replaces these two and getting them on your roster is one of the best ways to stay on top of your fantasy league. Devin Booker and Rodney Hood are the two candidates that are most likely to benefit from the injured players. Check out them and all the other guards on the waiver wire this week.

Position Eligibility & Ownership Rate Based on Yahoo! Fantasy Basketball Player List

NBA Guards: Week 10 Waiver Wire Pickups & Sleepers

Terrence Ross (TOR, SG/SF) - 15% Owned

The Toronto Raptors have been searching for a third scorer behind Kyle Lowry and DeMar Derozan for some time now. Ross has been a candidate for the role but never really stepped into it. After bringing in DeMarre Carroll it seemed like the Raptors were prepared to move on from Ross. Yet, Ross has played some of the best basketball of his career recently. Over his last 10 games he's averaging 12.6 points while he's averaging over 16 points a game over his last five.

Garrett Temple (WAS, PG/SG) - 14% Owned

Garrett Temple has three 20 point games in his last four. Whether he's a flash in the pan or someone to be taken seriously won't be known for a long time. Right now, Beal will still be out for awhile and the Wizards don't have a lot of other options at the guard spots. I highly doubt Temple will sustain any type of production to keep him relevant fantasy wise. But 20 points a game can't be ignored. Temple is worth taking a flier while Beal is out but will be forgotten about when Beal returns.

Dennis Schroder (ATL, PG) - 23% Owned

The Atlanta Hawks are on a six game winning streak. During that streak Schroder is averaging 14 points and five assists on 50% shooting. He has been able to do this only playing around 21 minutes a game. Playing the back up point guard role is perfect for this point in Schroder's development. He looks very comfortable coming off the bench and being expected to run the Hawks offense the same way Jeff Teague does. Schroder should be able to continue his high level of production on limited minutes as the season goes through. There's no reason he shouldn't be owned by a lot more fantasy owners.

Devin Booker (PHO, SG) - 13% Owned

Booker is the most likely option to slot in next to Brandon Knight in the Suns starting backcourt. The 19 year old rookie is a is a an athletic sharpshooter that hasn't had many chances to contribute so far this season. It is unlikely he'll get heavy minutes right away despite being in the starting lineup. He managed to score 19 points in less than 20 minutes in a game against the 76ers. If he can produce anywhere near that on a consistent basis then he will be worth picking up but until then he should be on everyone's watch list.

Rodney Hood (UTA, SG/SF) - 46% Owned

Hood has been getting more and more playing time all year. He's averaging 12 points, 2.6 assists, 2.6 rebound a game for the whole year. Even with Alec Burks perfectly healthy Hood has been worth considering for a roster spot. Now that burks is out with a broken leg, Hood should be added on all teams. He is good for threes, points, and decent percentages. Most of all, Hood is a young player with a high upside. Over the next few weeks he will probably see the highest usage rate of his young career and is a good bet to produce at the highest level of his career as well.
