NBA DFS: Top Daily Fantasy Expert Picks for DraftKings, FanDuel (3/7/24)

Anthony Edwards - NBA DFS Picks, Daily Fantasy Basketball Rankings, Injury News - rotoballer icon

Free daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for today's slate on DraftKings and FanDuel. Use Thunder Dan's NBA DFS expert picks to building winning DFS lineups on March 7th, 2024.

We have an unusually large Thursday night slate on tap tonight with seven games in the Association! NBA DFS is getting into the part of the season where we have quite a few injuries to monitor and a lot of value opening up with players sitting out or even being shut down by tanking teams. We have had some high-scoring slates as a result and tonight feels like it might be another one based on my first look.

The key to being successful in NBA DFS comes down to making adjustments during the day as injury information becomes available. But it's always really important to have a game plan and the best players and spots circled first before making those adjustments. To keep up with all the latest developments and get access to updated projections, grab an NBA season pass and also gain access to our RotoBaller Premium Discord where @chiefjustice6 is talking about the slate up until lineups lock!

This article will provide you with my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 3/7/24. Remember to monitor NBA injury news and our awesome NBA injuries report tool, as the slate can completely change before lineups lock at 7 p.m. EST on FanDuel and DraftKings. Good luck RotoBaller!

Today's NBA DFS Core Picks

This is where we take a look at some of the higher-priced players who we can use as building blocks for both cash and GPP contests.

The first thing we have to do is lock in Anthony Edwards with KAT now out of the lineup for what looks like the rest of the season (bummer, sorry Minnesota fans). Without KAT on the floor, Edwards carries a massive 36% usage rate as well as small bumps in his rebounding and assist rates, too. The offense will be running through Ant most of the evening in what should be a close, high-scoring game against the Pacers. I like Gobert here, too, but we will talk about him more later.

Jimmy Butler has been on a roll now for the last two weeks and I love him to keep producing elite results at a discounted price here from the other stars on this slate. The Miami-Dallas game should be a slower-paced grindfest and those are the games that Jimmy loves the most. He and Bam Adebayo will be a problem for Dallas at the rim as the Mavericks have failed to solve their rim protection problem.

I was torn on rolling with Fox here or Domantas Sabonis as both guys have destroyed the Spurs this season. Fox is a lot cheaper so let's keep the theme of saving some salary going here. I do worry a bit about a blowout with the Spurs being Wemby-less, however, the matchup is so good that we can't completely ignore it as the Kings' studs could still deliver big-time production in a lopsided affair. Fox has 53 and 69 DK points in two games against San Antonio this season - that's a damn nice ceiling for that price.

  1. Anthony Edwards, MIN at IND – SG ($8,800 DK; $9,300 FD)
  2. Jimmy Butler, MIA at DAL – SF ($8,300 DK; $9,000 FD)
  3. De'Aaron Fox, SAC vs. SAS – PG ($8,500 DK; $9,500 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Value Picks

Here are today's projections sorted by fantasy points per dollar. The rest of the Spurs starting unit shows up in four of the first five players as well as Kyle Anderson who should slide into KAT's starting PF spot in Minnesota.

Here's my thing with playing Spurs guys tonight. If you want to punt with a Zach Collins or Jeremy Sochan one-off that's fine, but if you're loading up on 3-4 Spurs players you should absolutely be correlating those lineups with at least one of Fox or Sabonis - and possibly both, hoping that the game stays close enough that you get ceilings from everyone.

Lonnie Walker is very interesting tonight as long as he plays as Brooklyn is down both Cams (Thomas and Johnson) tonight as well as Ben Simmons (done for the year - surprised?).

Ben Sheppard should continue to get a chance to show us what he can do with Bennedict Mathurin out and is dirt cheap on DK at $3200.

Top Value Plays:

  1. Zach Collins, SAS at SAS – C ($4,300 DK; $6,100 FD)
  2. Kyle Anderson, MIN at IND – SF ($4,300 DK; $5,400 FD)
  3. Ben Sheppard, IND vs. IND – PG/SG ($3,200 DK; $4,200 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Picks: Point Guard

A few options to consider if you don't want to pay up for Fox would be Dennis Schroder, who has come on lately in Brooklyn as both a scorer and facilitator (7+ assists in four straight) and Tre Jones, who should help pick up some of the scoring slack with Wembanyama out. Remember if you are playing Tre Jones instead of Fox consider including Sabonis as that is something I think some players will forget to do today - force the correlation.

Top PG Options:

    1. De'Aaron Fox, SAC vs. SAS ($8,500 DK; $9,500 FD)
    2. Dennis Schroder, BKN at DET ($6,100 DK; $6,600 FD)
    3. Tre Jones, SAS at SAC –($5,300 DK; $5,500 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Picks: Shooting Guard

I already talked about ANT, but I didn't mention Vassell yet. He's been playing really well and should be the top option on offense for the Spurs tonight without Wemby. I think people may shy away from him based on his price, but again - IF the Spurs can keep it close (and remember that Sacto is one the second half of a B2B) then we could get some nice scores out of our Spurs players.

Beal gets a bump in usage and acts as the de facto point guard with Booker out. He's priced fairly and in a good spot here against a bad defensive team in Toronto.

Top SG Options:

      1. Anthony Edwards, MIN at IND ($8,800 DK; $9,300 FD)
      2. Devin Vassell, SAS at SAC  ($7,300 DK; $7,700 FD)
      3. Bradley Beal, PHX vs. TOR ($6,900 DK; $7,900 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Picks: Small Forward

"Himmy" Butler is my guy and I know I have talked about "Slo Mo" aka Kyle Anderson already, too. Jeremy Sochan is a solid option here and has gone off a few times already when Wemby was out. Otherwise, I would also consider Keldon Johnson for a few hundred left, though I think he's a bigger question mark in terms of his consistency this season.

Top SF Options:

      1. Jimmy Butler, MIA at DAL ($8,300 DK; $9,000 FD)
      2. Kyle Anderson, MIN at IND ($4,300 DK; $5,500 FD)
      3. Jeremy Sochan, SAS at SAC ($5,100 DK; $6,000 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Picks: Power Forward

I am torn on whether to pay up for Durant or go with some cheaper options. He does get the biggest boost of the remaining Phoenix starters with Booker being out, but the Suns are heavy favorites, too, and I am not sure we get a ceiling game out of him here. Olynyk is a great DFS play at this price and showed he could smash his price tag last game even in a blowout, Toronto just doesn't have any other big bodies.

DFS (Finney-Smith) is another cheap play here who is going to get a ton of run with Brooklyn being so banged up.

Top PF Options:

      1. Kevin Durant, PHX vs. TOR ($9,700 DK; $10,200 FD)
      2. Kelly Olynyk, TOR at PHX ($6,800 DK; $6,500 FD)
      3. Dorian Finney-Smith, BKN at DET ($5,000 DK; $4,900 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Picks: Center

Man, the center position is LOADED today and one of the reasons I love playing on DraftKings is so that I can play two of them as often as possible! We also have value center Zach Collins in play, too, but loading up on two higher-priced centers might be a way to get different in tournaments.

Gobert has been dominant in the paint lately and playing big minutes. He should soak up some more boards with KAT out and is priced nicely for a matchup with Myles Turner. Nurkic is the guy with a massive ceiling tonight as the Raptors are playing Kelly Olynyk at center now with Poeltl out. Nurk should do work on the interior and pick up some usage with Booker out of the lineup as well.

Top C Options:

      1. Domantas Sabonis, SAC vs. SAS ($10,600 DK; $10,800 FD)
      2. Rudy Gobert, MIN at IND ($7,500 DK; $8,600 FD)
      3. Jusuf Nurkic, PHX vs. TOR ($7,200 DK; $7,800 FD)

Today's Top NBA DFS Game Stacks

      1. Wolves at Pacers (227 total)
      2. Raptors at Suns (231 total)
      3. Spurs at Kings (237 total)

Today's Top NBA DFS Avoids

I am hoping for a great game between the Celtics and Nuggets, but I have very little interest in that game for DFS so I likely won't have any exposure to Jokic, Murray or any of the Celtics starters.

My Favorite NBA DFS Picks for Today

Here is where I leave you with some of my favorites.

      • My favorite overall play on the slate: Anthony Edwards
      • My favorite CASH play on the slate: Jimmy Butler
      • My favorite GPP play on the slate: Jusuf Nurkic
      • My favorite value play: Ben Sheppard
