Tuesday’s slate of games was pivotal to playoff seeding and now that the postseason teams are set, looking at betting on the regular season will cause serious problems if unprepared. With just six games in total, PrizePicks only has around fifteen options to choose from at this moment. Obviously, this will change, but the limited options are indicative of how unsure everyone is about NBA lineups at this point in the season. Last night’s game between the Thunder and Trail Blazers is the perfect example of how far a team can go to ensure they are tanking to the fullest degree, but if giving unproven players a chance, while still valuing your foundational role players is tanking, what’s not to support? Players like Zavier Simpson and Jaylen Hoard deserve a chance to make a name for themselves and Oklahoma City isn’t the first team to adopt this concept of embracing new players while simultaneously increasing their draft-pick probability, it’s just the first time we’ve seen it this season in full-force. Including today, there are five days left of regular season basketball. If you aren’t looking to bet on players like Jamorko Pickett, Jericho Sims, or Vit Krejci, sit tonight out. Every game is a potential minefield.

PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game. The second game is known as Single Stat. For NBA, Single Stat consists of points, rebounds, assists, three-pointers made, and free throws made, in which you determine if the player in question will go over or under their projected total. You can mix and match players from each type of game in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Today, we will look at some single-stat scores for tonight, March 1.

Jayson Tatum OVER 28.5 Points – The worst part about Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum playing together has nothing to do with their potential or chemistry, it’s easily how annoying it is to predict who will be the leading scorer that night. (Truly, a non-problem.) Rarely do both have bad nights, and their contrasting styles of attack make the tandem one of the best 1-2 punches in the league. Tatum is the heart of the offense because of the attention he attracts from defenses, and stopping him is usually the opposing team’s top priority. Brown will get to the rim and to his spots around the paint, but not with Tatum’s level of authority and force. If a team does not contain and maintain a strong paint presence whenever Tatum is on the floor, he will exploit that in ways you never thought possible. Just when you think he’s resorted to his jumper, he punches one down on your most prolific big man, and in this case, Nikola Vucevic may just want to steer clear for most of this game…but he won’t, and that’s just fine.
Luka Doncic OVER 30.5 Points – With the Western Conference teams locked in, within that playoff circle the seeding is still up in the air. The Nuggets are a half-game behind the Jazz with three games remaining, but Utah has already won the season-series, so Denver would need to win-out their last three matchups while the Jazz lose at least two of their next three. An unlikely hope assuming the Suns rest their starters prior to the playoffs starting and Utah doesn’t just throw those games down the drain. With all that, the Mavericks need to win one game out of their next three to make sure they are cemented with at least a fourth-ranked seeding entering the postseason. If Dallas wins their next three games, a chance at the three-seed is possible, but the Warriors would have to lose and their last group of games. The Mavericks fare much better against the Nuggets, so there is absolutely reason for Dallas to look at this game like any other. There is still something on the line here.
Marcus Smart OVER 6.5 Assists – Since Marcus Smart has assumed some of the point guard duties this season, he’s developed into an opportunistic playmaker. He doesn’t shy away from his shot, but that doesn’t really mean he is looking to shoot either. As long as Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are on either side of him, he’s looking to make that one-more pass and let them initiate and finish the possession. Seven assists as a little steep based on his general ceiling as a defense-first playmaker, but that would ignore his obvious dedication and surprising consistency within this offense. Robert Williams being out and Al Horford being the only frontcourt option does limit his upside for easy-assists, but the Bulls defense is lacking size and physicality anyway, so other paint options should emerge from happenstance.
Other Recommendations
- Jayson Tatum OVER 5.5 Assists
- Jalen Brunson OVER 17.5 Points
- Jaylen Brown OVER 6.0 Rebounds
