NBA DFS Prop Picks for PrizePicks: Friday, January 19

LaMelo Ball - Charlotte Hornets

The 2023-2024 NBA season is here, and our friends over at PrizePicks still have a TON of great props we can look to take advantage of. PrizePicks is a great DFS props site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power or flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.

Our partners at PrizePicks offer some of the industry's best and easiest-to-win NBA DFS games. There are no large-field tournaments filled with sharks where you have to get lucky just to place. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money. With promo code 'BALLER' you can get a 100% match on your deposit up to $100.

PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game. The second game is known as Single Stat. For the NBA, Single Stat consists of points, rebounds, assists, three-pointers made, and free throws made, in which you determine if the player in question will go over or under their projected total. You can mix and match players from each type of game in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Today, we will look at some single-stat scores for tonight, January 19.

Single Stat NBA Totals - DFS Prop Picks

Editor's Note: Prize Picks prop totals are not always available first thing in the morning, so check back during the day, as other props may be added during the day.

Jeremy Sochan OVER 0.5 Blocks - Although Gregg Popovich made a career of executing genius coaching tactics, frankly speaking, the Jeremy Sochan at point guard experience failed. Perhaps Victor Wembanyama will become the athletic version of Nikola Jokic as a point center, but Sochan is certainly not the next coming of LeBron James as a point forward.

However, unlike his futile efforts as a point guard, defense seems to be Sochan's calling. Aside from the dyed hair, utilizing his wingspan and an all-out effort comes in the form of diet Dennis Rodman. Recording four blocks in five games doesn't exactly scream "block specialist." Still, it's evident in the tape that on any given possession, Sochan is liable to reject a shot. Tap the over on the generous 0.5-block line for Sochan.

LaMelo Ball OVER 25.5 Points - Since returning from a six-week absence (ankle injury), LaMelo Ball hasn't shot the fish out of a barrel. In three games, Ball recorded an abysmal 29 percent from distance and a 57 true shooting percentage, which falls below the league average. However, despite the low shooting percentages, Ball averaged 26 points thanks to his outstanding 93 percent from the free throw line.

The San Antonio Spurs handled the Charlotte Hornets easily in their last meeting, but that was Ball's first game back from injury. Following a three-game ramp-up, it's reasonable to believe the Hornets will make for a more competitive contest this time. Look for Ball to give the Charlotte crowd a reason to cheer. Bang the over on Ball to cover the over on 25.5 points.

Devin Vassell UNDER 2.5 3-PT Made - Full disclosure: I was burned in Wednesday's PrizePicks Prop Picks by Vassel hitting the over on 17.5 points vs. the Boston Celtics. He scored 21 points but went 0-5 from the three-point line. Moreover, the shooting woes of the young Spurs guard last longer than a night, as seen in the 30 percent from distance shot averaged in January. Unless Vassell hits a gold mine of a shooting stroke, I don't see him covering the over on 2.5 three-point shots made.

Tap the under on 2.5 three-point shots for Vassell.

Paolo Banchero UNDER 31.5 Points+Assists - The Orlando Magic have no reason for any feelings of disappointment so far this season in light of their 22-19 record. In addition to Orlando's success, reigning Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero's stats mostly have improved. Recently, though, the absence of Franz Wagner shows in Banchero's shooting numbers. In his last five games, Banchero averaged 21 points on a lowly 13 percent from deep and a less-than-stellar 60 percent from the charity stripe.

Aside from the horrid shooting stretch, the Italy-born talent, for all his abilities, isn't precisely Penny Hardaway reincarnated. The line is set at a combined 31.5 points and assists, which he hasn't covered such a number in the aforementioned stretch. Playing the Eastern Conference contender Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night, I don't see Banchero covering the over in such circumstances.
